Auto Policy 2016 Finally Approved, Current Manufacturers Not Happy in Pakistan

Finally long awaited news is here.

Pakistan government has been debating on an auto policy for the last five years or so, costing the country and its citizens billions so far. However, the policy has been finally approved after a long hiatus. The new policy could attract new car manufacturers from Europe or China thanks to some tax incentives for setting up manufacturing units in Pakistan.

The Ministry of Finance announced that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has finally agreed to an Automotive policy for the next five years. The government, however, decided not to change its policy regarding car imports despite the Federal Board of Revenue?s (FBR) recommendation to allow imports of up to five-year-old cars compared to the current limit of three-year-old cars. FBR has also proposed to open imports for commercial purposes.

Miftah Ismail, Chairman of the Board of Investment, said that ?The existing three car manufacturers will not be entitled to the benefits that are being offered to the new investors.? He added that the policy was aimed at enhancing consumer welfare and boosting competition in the country besides attracting new players. Ismail said that greater localisation of auto parts

Sharmeen wins her second Oscar over ‘A Girl in the River’

LOS ANGELES: Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy won her second Oscar in the Best Documentary – Short Subject category for her film A Girl in the River, after her first Academy Award in 2012 for Saving Face in the same category.

“I have another one!” said Sharmeen as she took the stage to accept the award for a documentary over honor killings in Pakistan.

“This week the Pakistani PM said he would change the law on honor killing after watching this film — that is the power of film!” said Sharmeen on the stage while accepting the award.

Chinoy has been in Los Angeles for the past week in preparation for the Academy Awards. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy made history by winning Pakistan’s first Oscar four years ago.

AC power is the kind of electrical that your television, computer, and toasters use when plugged into the wall outlet.

A net energy meter keeps track of the all the power your solar system produces. Any solar energy that you do not use simultaneous with production will go back into the electrical grid through the meter. At night or on cloudy days, when your system is not producing more than your building needs, you will consume electricity from the grid as normal. Your utility will bill you for the "net" consumption for any given billing period and provide you with a dollar credit for any excess during a given period. You can carry your bill credit forward for up to a year.
