Psychology Today
is a general-interest magazine published every two months in theUnited States for a mass audience. It focuses on human behavior and covers a wide range of topics including psychologyneuroscience, relationships, health, work, and the psychological aspects of current affairs. The magazine's website features hundreds ofblogs written
by an assortment of professional and amateur authors including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, medical doctors, anthropologists, sociologists, and science journalists. Current editor-in-chief Kaja Perina, who holds an advanced degree in journalism and has previously worked for publications such as Vogue, has admitted to having no formal training in psychology, but claims that her "lifelong curiosity about human behavior is ample schooling" for her position
Psychology Today was founded in 1967 by Nicolas Charney, Ph.D. The intent of the magazine was to make psychology literature more accessible to the general public.With content geared toward an audience interested in pop psychology, "Psychology Today" nonetheless is endorsed by the National Board for Certified Counselors, which promotes subscriptions to "Psychology Today" and offers professional credit from the organization for a small fee and assigned assessment for each article read.[
