NOTIFICATION
KARACHI, THE 15TH JULY, 2011
NO.PAS/Legis-B-24/2011- The Sindh Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill, 2011 having
been passed by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh on 13th July, 2011 and assented to by
the Governor of Sindh on 14th July, 2011 is hereby published as an Act of the
Legislature of Sindh.
THE SINDH LAND REVENUE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2011.
AN
ACT
to amend the Sind Land Revenue Act,1967.
WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Sind Land
Revenue Act,1967, in the manner hereinafter appearing;
Preamble.
It is hereby enacted as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Sindh Land Revenue (Amendment)
Act, 2011.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
Short title and
commencement.
2. In the Sind Land Revenue Act,1967, hereinafter referred to as the
said Act, throughout the Act -
(i) for the word “Sind”, the word “Sindh” shall be
substituted;
(ii) for the words “an deh”, the words “a deh” shall be
substituted;
(iii) for the words “Executive District Officer (Revenue)”,
the word “Commissioner” shall be substituted;
(iv) for the words “District Officer (Revenue)”, the word
“Collector” shall be substituted;
(v) for the words “Assistant District Officer (Revenue)”,
the words “Assistant Collector” shall be substituted;
(vi) for the word “District”, the original nomenclature
“Division” and “District” shall stand revived;
(vii) for the word “Taluka”, the original nomenclature
“Sub-Division” and “Taluka” shall stand revived.

3. In the said Act, for the heading of Chapter-II, the following shall
be substituted:-
“Chapter-II
Divisions and Districts”.

4. In the said Act, for section 5, the following shall be substituted:-
“5. Province to be divided into Divisions. There shall be as
many Divisions in the Province, with such limits and such
areas, as Government may, by notification, direct.”.

5. In the said Act, for section 6, the following shall be substituted:-
“6. Divisions to be divided into Districts and Districts into
Sub-Divisions. (1) Each Division shall be divided into such
Districts, and each District may be divided into such Sub-
Divisions or Talukas, as Government may, by notification,
specify; and each Sub-Division may consist of such Talukas,
and having such limits, as Government may, by notification,
direct.
(2) Government may, by notification, vary the number and
limits of Divisions, Districts, Sub-Divisions or Talukas in the
Province.”.

6. In the said Act, for section 7, the following shall be substituted:-
“7. Classes of Revenue Officers. (1) There shall be the
following classes of Revenue Officers, namely :-
(a) the Board of Revenue;
(b) the Commissioner;
(c) the Collector;
(d) the Assistant Collector of the first grade;
(e) the Assistant Collector of the second grade.
(2) The Deputy Commissioner of the District or the officer
performing for the time being functions as such, shall be the
Collector thereof.”.

7. In the said Act, for section 8, the following shall be substituted:-
“8. Appointment of Commissioners and Collectors. For each
Division there shall be a Commissioner, and in each District
there shall be a Collector, who shall be appointed by
Government, and who shall exercise throughout the Division
or District, as the case may be, all the powers, and discharge all
the duties, of the Commissioner or Collector, as the case may
be, under this Act.”.

8. In the said Act, for section 9, the following shall be substituted:-
“9. Additional Commissioners and Additional Collectors.
Government may appoint in any Division an Additional
Commissioner or in any District an Additional Collector, who
shall exercise throughout the Division or District concerned all
or any of the powers and discharge all or any of the duties
conferred or imposed on a Commissioner or Collector, as the
case may be, by or under this Act, subject to the general
supervision and control of the Commissioner of the Division in
the case of Additional Commissioner, and the Collector of the
District in the case of Additional Collector.”.

9. In the said Act, in section 13, in sub-section(3), for the words “in
his District”, the words “in his Division” shall be substituted.

10. If any difficulty arises in giving effect to the provisions of this
Act, the Chief Minister may, by notification in the official gazette,
make such provisions as appear to be necessary or expedient for
removing the difficulty.
Removal of difficulty.
11. The Sindh Land Revenue (Amendment) Ordinance, 2011 is
hereby repealed.
Repeal.
